Covid-19 specific advice for members
- All members come to the club and sail at their own risk
- Please maintain appropriate social distancing at all times
- Gatherings can be in groups of up to six people from different households, following social distancing guidelines
- Please follow the government advice on hygiene
- Do not come to the club if you or a member of your household have any symptoms
- The toilets are open for use
- The changing rooms are accessible for essential use only – please limit your time in them
- Please come changed ready to sail and return home to shower
- The clubhouse and containers should only be accessed by committee members, race officials, support boat, galley and bar personnel – when necessary to carry out their roles
- Club equipment including boats and the winch are not to be used unless permitted by the committee
- There will not be any organised safety cover so please bear this in mind in your own risk assessments for choosing what conditions to set sail in
- Double handers in particular are recommended to follow government guidelines in choosing who they go sailing with.
- Only members who have renewed their Club membership for 2020 are allowed at the club, no guests should be brought on site
- The Covid-19 WhatsApp group can be used to identify others who may want to buddy sail – email commodore@shorehamsailing with your number to be added.
Dinghy park and launching
- Please bring your own antiviral gel/wipes for use on communal surfaces – eg padlocks, gate mechanisms and keypads
- Please ensure club gates are closed at all times to discourage non-members from accessing the club
- If your neighbouring boat is also rigging, one of you should move out of your space
- Please keep all boat related items within your boat parking space
- Double handers should return trolleys to their spaces
- Single handers should have a plan for dealing with their trolley before they go on the slipway
- Single handers trolleys can be left to the North of the slipway
- You assist others with trolleys at your own risk
- Boats and trolleys go down on the left of the slipway and up on the right
Take a considerate and conservative approach
Shoreham Sailing Club’s reputation with our stakeholders and within the local and sailing communities could be jeopardised by our actions over the coming weeks and we ask all members to take this into account if they plan to come to the club.
We are following the RYA’s guidance to encourage the sailing community to take a considerate and conservative approach
- Considerate: be mindful of the potential impact that you could have on other water users and do not place unnecessary extra strain on the RNLI and emergency services.
- Conservative: help to minimise risk by taking an extra conservative approach to your sailing.
By sailing from Shoreham SC, members are agreeing to abide by the points above and to have read our advice for sailors on personal risk assessments.
