We’re opening the Clubhouse for regular social evenings on the first Friday of every month (subject to calendar sailing events already scheduled). Keep date of Friday 7th August free when the bar will be open for members to enjoy a casual evening of games, chat and meeting newcomers.
Tickets for our end of year Dinner and Dance, a Black Tie event will be on sale soon to be held on Saturday 14th November. We are luck to have the fabulous and popular ‘Catalina’ 7 piece band to entertain us with their live mix of Blues, Grooves and Jazz. Tickets will be on a first served basis TBA but keep date free!
Keep Sunday 19th July free at 1500 hours for Shoreham Beach Annual Blessing of the Sea organised by Vicar Jane from Church of the Good Shepherd. It’s not necessarily for churchgoers but a great community event. Our resident and popular classical guitarist, Richard Durrant, will be playing outside his Pollinator Horse Box Cafe near to the Old Fort to welcome onlookers. Jane has invited the RNLI, NCI, Sussex Kelp, Surfers Against Sewage, Friends of Shoreham Beach, Shoreham SC and others too. Sunshine will be a bonus!
We are negotiating talks for member and the community over the coming months. We are hopeful of a presentation by the National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) on safety at Sea (date to be advised), and also the following;
- The Peoples Emergency Briefing. Film about Climate and Nature issues has really encouraging news which will be greatly received by anyone who has a love of the sea and our world! SSC will be hosting this 45 minute film with a question and answer session one evening in September, so watch this space for a date to be advised.
- Environmental Scientist, David Gill who previously enlightened us with a fascinating talk on Dolphin behaviour, will present his remarkable experiences in Antartica with a film and Q & A session in Autumn.
