A massive thank you to everyone that signed up and turned up to do their duties this year. A special shout-out goes to the following who far exceeded the four duties we ask members to do; Will Carroll, Richard Harris, Stephen Brosnan, Sophie Mackley, James Gerwat and Richard Bradshaw.
In 2026 things will be a little different. The main changes are;
- If you do not do duties then you will not be able to store your boat at the club – we’re limited on space these days which is a nice problem to have so priority will always go to those that do their bit for the club.
- Members can only sign up for two Wednesday evening duties – they’re an easier option than a weekend duty and everyone should have the opportunity to do them (they are the first to get booked up)
- If you are a Race Officer or Safety Boat Driver you will not be able to sign up for Safety Boat crew (unless they have a good reason!) – we’re really short on the former so prioirity has to go to them.
The eagle-eyed amongst you will have spotted that (for the reason given above) Race Officer and Safety Boat driver duties are already available to sign up for in Sailing Club Manager. I appreciate this isn’t perfect as there are people that would like to do their duties together (as Race officer and Assistant, or Driver and Crew) or have very limited availability. If this is you please email me with your preferred dates and I will add those in myself for the time-being.
