The club
Shoreham Sailing Club is located just along the coast from Brighton and only an hour from London. We can be found on Shoreham Beach, on the western bank of the River Adur with boats launched and recovered from our slipway into the harbour – which is a great stretch of water to learn and train on. For the more confident sailors we get ‘Real Sea Sailing’ but with sheltered launching – perfect!
We run a racing programme from March to November (weather permitting) with competitive racing for a wide range of dinghies, including fleets of Lasers, Merlin Rockets, Wayfarers, Phantoms, and general handicap and Catamaran fleets. Class and handicap racing is held either in the river/harbour, or more usually out to sea. There is Sunday morning racing throughout the season and Wednesday evening racing during the summer months.
We run regular Family and Improver days which are a great opportunity to get the whole family on the water. If you are looking to learn how to sail we recomend you get in touch with the Adur Sailing Club who share our facilities.
The club has a sizeable grassed boat park where members are able to store their boats all year round. The clubhouse offers changing rooms and showers. On race days the galley serving light lunches and snacks, a bar and a large function room are available. Additional social activities are organised throughout the year.
We encourage all our members to participate in the running of the club in a variety of roles depending on experience and training. This includes safety boat crew, race officer, work parties and assisting during open meeting weekends. We provide basic training for members in using the club support boats, radios and how to be a race officer.
