Raced over three weekends and sailed equidistant between Lancing and Shoreham SC’s the first battle took place on Sunday 29 June and was a Shoreham SC lockout of the top six places with Bill Whitney and John Shelton leading in their Wayfarer, from Peter Bennett and Andy Phillips, also in a Wayfarer. Ross Jackson and Dave Reid were third in their Merlin, with the D-Zero of Martin Walker in fourth and first single hander – Martin also won the first race. The Lady Bee Chandlery prize of a bag of Marlow Rope goodies is awarded at the Race officers discretion and this time it went to Alfie in his Topper 4.2 (the small rig) who showed great skill and tenacity racing on the same course as the faster boats – not to mention the long sail there and back. Well done Alfie.
